I ask because if you think about it you could have bought your car last year for £12, 000, and one year later it's worth £9,000. If you car is written off it isn't as ther inusrance company will pay out on the amount you paid for the car.. this happened to my brother and they only paid the value it was worth on the day of his crash which was considerably less....

A) Unless you agree a value of the car before you take out the insurance (this involves an insurance assessor viewing your car and agreeing the value you state-normally chavved up motors or specialist marques) then they will ask you this but only pay out BOOK price or otherwise known as replacement price.

Q) I did a online quote for car insurance on the moneysupermarket.com website and I got a quote that I was happy with, so I was wondering if I can purchase the insurance straight from the moneysupermarket website or do I have to go to the insurance companies website and purchase it from their. How do I go about buying the insurance from the moneysupermarket website. I took down the reference number for the quote. How do I pay for the insurance from the moneysupermarket website, do I use a credit card or a bank account or how do they accept payment. Is the price which I was quoted be what I pay or does the quote ever go up from what the website gave me. I don't know if it matters but the insurance company is quinn-direct .

A) Either contact the insurance company by phone or e-mail and give them the quote number. Don't pay for anything until they assure you that the coverage is the same as quoted. And if you can, I would hold back until they mailed or faxed a hard copy of that quote stating the coverages, the length of time it is for and the cost. Then I'd pay or set up a payment schedule with them.

Is there diffrence between getting car insurance online and using the phone?

A) Try Admiral. They are quite cheap. Also, Tesco are quite cheap. My first one was 500 quid, although that was when i was 25, so your age probably is whats putting the price up.

A) Go to confused.com, put in your details and they will find you an insurance company i was quite surprised with my car insurance. I got a quote from Quinn direct and it was a very good quote indeed and i have seen people on here recommend them too.

A) A couple of quick tips for bringing down your quote are: 1. get an experienced driver to go on the policy as a named driver (but not to 'front' the policy for you, with you as a named driver). Don't ask me why that works, but apparently it sometimes does. 2. take the Pass Plus test. It'll cost around £100, your local council might subsidise that though, but even if not the discount some insurers will give you will make it worthwhile. A) Make sure you're comparing apples to apples, IE, the same coverage for each quote. That could be part of it. If you are, there is a difference between companies, which is the reason you are getting quotes in the first place. If they all charged the same there would be no reason to shop around, would there? If I might suggest, find a local independent agent that is not tied to any particular company and have them find what is best for you in your situation.

Car Insurance Claim denied due to not having full coverage, I purchased policy online, I believed I did. HELP!

Q) I purchased a new 07 Scion Tc from the dealership in July 06. I purchased my insurance online and I didnt get an immediate quote, it had to be verified or something like that, I was assuming because it was a new car. I received an email letting me know that I was going to get a response within the next few days. I still have that email. But the next thing I received was my insurance cards through the mail. I had an at fault accident in August 06. And the insurance denied my claim statting that I didnt choose Full Coverage. I believed that was what I had. And the insurance should've made me aware of that knowing that my car was being financed. What can I do?

A) Let me clear something up....there is no such thing as 'full coverage' insurance. You either purchased comprehensive/collision/towing/rental/GAP coverage or you didn't...these are individual coverages and do not come as a "packaged" deal. The only coverage that is sold as "package" is bodily injury/property damage coverage, aka liability insurance. You write the insurance should have made you aware you didn't have comprehensive/collision coverage....that's not their responsibility, that's yours. Their responsibility is to send you a copy of the Dec Page listing who and what is covered and what coverage(s) are on the policy. Sounds like when you opened your mail and saw your insurance cards that was the ONLY thing you saw and completely disregarded the Declarations Page that was included. Had you bothered to read this page you would have known right then & there what coverage you had and could have acted immediately to make the appropriate change. Unless you have evidence proving your intent was to buy comp/collision coverage, or you selected these coverages when you were online, you're outta luck. Now all you can do is contact your lienholder & see if they forced insurance on your loan to protect their vehicle.

Moving in 1.5 months and getting a car - Should i buy before or after for car insurance?

Q) I'm planning to buy a car but I'm moving to a new place in 1.5-2 months. Question is, should I buy the car while i'm still at my current address, or wait til I move to the new place? My concern is the car insurance. I've heard people having problems with their insurance when they change their address. If I get a car now and get it insured before moving, wouldn't my insurance be based on my original address? would my future address be factored in instead? Or should i save myself the hassle, and wait it out til i move to the new place before getting the car + insurance? Is it also possible to just buy the car, stash it on my future place (the place would be pretty much unoccupied for 2-3 weeks coz of repair + last month on my current add) or register/insure it under my new add even if i'm not staying there yet? I was doing online quotes for various car insurance co., and all of them indicate that I would be getting a lower insurance on my future address compared to my current on

A) buy the car now if you really need one, and or this car is a good deal get insurance you change the address with the insurance Company when you physically move into there there are no hassles hopefully your rates will go down with your new address

Car Insurance UK?

Q) I'm confused about something. I've been driving for about 7 months and have my own insurance which is fully comp and I pay £102 each month. Only now my boyfriend drives my car but only has just passed his test last month. I need to put him on my insurance as a 2nd driver. Only I'm sure that I have read and when I took out my own insurance that by putting a 2nd driver onto my insurance would lower my rate. I'm confused because I thought that with him being on it we'll be paying less or around the same amount! Can he take out his own insurance on my car or does he have to go on mine? A) It is the driver who is insured to drive your car. An inexperienced / young driver will always cost more to insure. If your bf carry on holding the lisence for three years, without claim, the premium will come down.

Insurance Claim Lookup... Can I Do That?

Q) I recently went online to USAA to get a car insurance quote, and they claim my husband had a wreck in May of 2003, which he didn't. The only thing I can figure is his ex wife had one about that time, she almost totaled the car! They had insurance thru State Farm. He is over seas and cannot call USAA or State Farm to mess around with this, and they won't talk to me. Is there a way I can look up an old insurance claim to verify that it was his ex's accident before I try and move forward? From the info on USAA website it was filed under his name, no where is her name. The bodily damage was 6K and property was 2K. Wouldn't it say her name somewhere?

Q) Well, I am purchasing my first car (used, very used of course). I was wondering if I should just add it on to my parents existing insurance or would it be cheaper to get my own. i did a quote online that gave me the cheapest from AIG for only like 390 for 6 months (just liability though). A) You are better off going to smaller insurance brokers.My sister is 23 and shes living in Belfast now and for her first year she was quoted prices from £1700 to £1050. She went to a place that worked with like 20 odd insurance company's and they checked them all for her for the best deal.
